UWM Places 89 On Horizon League Fall Academic Honor Roll Tally is second-highest in the league

MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee placed 89 student-athletes on the 2009 Horizon League Fall Academic Honor Roll, the league office announced today.

That total is second in the league to Butler's 108 honorees and UWM is one of only three league schools with more than 80 student-athletes on the list.

In all, 715 league student-athletes made the honor roll.

At UWM, the women's track and field team led the way with 15 honorees, while the men's swimming and diving team placed 13 student-athletes on the honor roll. Volleyball (10 honorees), women's soccer (nine) and women's swimming and diving (eight) also placed at the top of the list.

Candidates for the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll must meet three criteria in order to qualify: 1) participation in at least one of the League's 19 sports during the most recent (or current) season; 2) completion of three semesters (or four quarters, where applicable) as a full-time student at the same member institution; and 3) a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) as of Dec. 31, 2009.
