Taylor, Welchlin Named UWM/U.S. Army National Guard/ROTC Athletes of the Month

MILWAUKEE - Samia Taylor and Nathan Welchlin have been named the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee/U.S. Army National Guard/ROTC Athletes of the Month for January.

The duo posted extremely successful months leading the track and field and swimming teams.

Taylor broke the school record in indoor long jump (19-10 3/4 - 6.06m) at the Jack Jennett Invite at Northern Iowa. She is currently 28th in the country in both the triple jump and the long jump, and won every event she competed in during the month.

Welchlin broke the Klotsche Natatorium record in 200 butterfly against a strong Northwestern squad and also won the 100 fly against NU. In fact, he won every event he competed in as an individual during the month and was also a part of two winning relay teams. He is currently ranked 82nd in 100 fly, 90th in 200 fly and 131st in 50 free among all collegiate swimmers.
