MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee will honor its finest student-athletes at the annual Student-Athlete Awards Reception this Sunday.

The event begins at 4 p.m. in the Union Ballroom.

The top honors handed out during the event include the Panther Senior Athlete Award, the UWM/U.S. Army Athletes of the Year and the James Wright Special Recognition Award.

The event also recognizes UWM teams that posted grade-point averages of 3.0 or better as well as the teams that have the highest grade-point averages in the department.

Individually, the student-athletes with the highest GPA on each team will be honored with the Faculty Athletic Representative's Award while the Athletic Director's Award goes to the student-athlete with the highest grade-point average in the department. Those that made the Horizon League's honor roll will also be recognized.

The Horizon League Community Outreach Award and the League's Raise Your Sights Award, two awards focused on the platforms of the league, will be distributed. Plus, teams that won league titles this past year will be honored.
