MILWAUKEE - Senior Aaron Nodolf and junior Laura Dallenbach have been named the 2000-2001 Coca-Cola/UWM Athletes of the Year.
The winners were announced as part of the UWM Student-Athlete Awards Reception, held Sunday afternoon in the Wisconsin Room of the UWM Union.
Nodolf helped the men's track and field team to another indoor conference championship, while also winning a pair of individual conference championships. He won both the mile race and the 3000 meters, and was named the Co-Outstanding Performer of the meet. He also broke his own school record in the 3000m in January 2001 posting a new time of 8:19.16. He was also honored on the fall All-MCC Academic team, and has been named the MCC Athlete of the Week four times this year. On Sunday, Nodolf was also named the male winner of the Herman Kluge Award, presented to the outstanding senior athlete at UWM.
Dallenbach was named the MCC Volleyball Player of the Year while leading the Panthers to a fourth-straight regular season MCC title and a third-straight NCAA Tournament berth. She was also named to the All-MCC First Team and the All-Midwest Region team, while being named the MCC Player of the Week twice and the MVP of the Panther Invitational. She set a school record for career digs while moving into second place on the school's all-time kill list.
