MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee placed 70 student-athletes on the 2008 Horizon League Spring Academic Honor Roll, the league office announced today.

The women's track and field/cross country team led the way with 15 honorees, while the women's swimming and diving team had 12 student-athletes make the honor roll. The baseball, volleyball, men's track and field/cross country and women's soccer teams each had seven honorees.

The 70 placed UWM as one of four schools to have at least 70 student-athletes on the honor roll. In all, 632 student-athletes from the Horizon League's 10 schools qualified for the honor roll.

Candidates for the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll must meet three criteria in order to qualify: 1) participation in at least one of the League's 19 sports during the most recent (or current) season; 2) completion of three semesters (or four quarters, where applicable) as a full-time student at the same member institution; and 3) a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) as of June 20, 2008.
