Panthers, HLN Combine To Stream 24 Live HD Fall Sports Home Events
Aug 20, 2013
MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee will stream 24 home fall sporting events live in high definition as part of the Horizon League Network. The broadcast schedule opens Fri., Aug. 30 with coverage of a soccer doubleheader.
The 24 events during the first two-plus months of the school year mark just the beginning of an extensive streaming schedule for the Panthers through HLN. Any home postseason appearances by the fall sports teams will be streamed live, while Panther men's and women's basketball home games will again be available through HLN all season long.
Matt Menzl and Nate Lisko return as the two main voices of Panther athletics in the fall. Menzl will call the majority of soccer matches while Lisko will be the voice of Panther volleyball.
In addition to the volume of home events, many of UWM's league road events are also available through the Horizon League Network via broadcasts from the host institution.
The opening broadcasts of the season are a pair of important non-league contests at the end of the month. The soccer doubleheader starts at 5 p.m. Aug. 30 with the women facing Indiana. Then at 7:30 p.m. the men face off with crosstown-rival Marquette. Meanwhile, the volleyball broadcast debut is Sept. 17 when the Panthers host Iowa.
In all, the fall schedule includes nine men's soccer contests, eight volleyball matches and seven women's soccer games.
Live streaming of home events is just one part of UWM's extensive online video presence. The Black and Gold Network - the YouTube channel for Panther athletics - will again provide a variety of features, previews, postgame interviews and highlights. Last school year, the Black and Gold Network produced over 300 video features with more than 50,000 page views.
