MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee will play host to Panther Madness, presented by Time-Warner Cable and U.S. Cellular, Saturday, Oct. 14 at 4 p.m. at the U.S. Cellular Arena.

The event will include UWM's regularly-scheduled volleyball match with Butler, a number of fan contests and giveaways, plus scrimmages involving both the Panther men's and women's basketball teams. Admission to Panther Madness is free, and student shuttle buses will help take UWM students to the Arena for the event.

The day kicks off as the Panther volleyball team takes on Butler in a Horizon League match. UWM beat UW-Green Bay at the U.S. Cellular Arena a season ago. Then, following the volleyball match, UWM's men's and women's basketball teams will take the floor for their first public event of the 2006-07 season. Following highlight videos, a warm-up and introductions, the teams will split into two squads and square off in four, 10-minute quarters. Throughout the week leading up to Panther Madness, the men's and women's teams will be drafted onto their scrimmage team, with team breakdowns posted online at www.uwmpanthers.com.

Fans in attendance can win a number of great prizes, including a Funjet Vacaction to Cancun, an I-Pod, a customized Panther motorized scooter from Cedar Creek Motor Sports, a Trek Bike from Wheel and Sprocket, a Jimmy Johns Party Platter and burritos for a year from Chipotle. Contests will include the U.S. Cellular Serving Challenge, the Time-Warner Cable Memory Challenge and a two-ball contest to determine the winner of the scooter.

Panther Madness is part of a busy sports weekend on the UWM campus. Friday, Oct. 13, the men's soccer team will host Michigan at 7 p.m. at Engelmann Field, while the volleyball team will host Wright State at the Klotsche Center at 7 p.m. Then Sunday, the men's soccer team hosts Cleveland State at 11 a.m. while the women's soccer team hosts Butler at 1:30 p.m.
