Mike Goetz returns to the UWM coaching staff for his third season. Goetz will continue to serve as first base coach and work with the outfielders and baserunning.

Goetz officially retired as a player in 2009, spending his final season with the Frontier League's Rockford (Ill.) RiverHawks. He spent three additional years in professional baseball prior to that tenure in Rockford.

"We are glad to have Mike back at UWM and he is a really good fit for our staff," head coach Scott Doffek said. "He was able to accomplish great things here as player and now he looks to take the next step in his baseball career as a coach. I was able to witness firsthand the focus and desire he brought to the game as a player, and it was second to none. We are extremely fortunate to have Mike working with our players on a day-to-day basis."

The Milwaukee Brewers drafted him after he became UWM's first-ever All-American in 2005, leading the nation with a .493 average. He spent the 2006 season with the Arizona League Brewers, batting .289 and leading the league with 31 stolen bases.

Next, he batted .318 for the Helena Brewers in 2007 and was called up to the Hunstville Stars at the end of the season. He spent the majority of the 2008 season with the Traverse City Beach Bums before he was signed midseason by the Lynchburg Hillcats of the Pittsburgh Pirates farm system. Goetz carried a batting average of over .400 into mid-June and led the team with 22 multi-hit games.
