March 19, 2003
HOMESTEAD, Fla. - Three players collected five RBI apiece as the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee exploded for 27 runs in the nightcap to sweep a doubleheader from St. Peters, 6-4 and 27-7, Wednesday at the Homestead Challenge.
The Panthers scored nine times in the first inning and were never seriously threatened in winning the second game over the Peacocks.
In the opener, UWM rallied for two runs in the eighth inning to claim the win. Zak Rivera drove in the go-ahead run with a single before Steve Sanfilippo collected an insurance RBI with a bases-loaded walk. Cory Kleeba collected the win with two innings of relief after a solid, seven-inning start by Geoff Lefeber kept the Panthers in the game.
UWM is scheduled to continue play in Florida Thursday with a contest against Rider.
