MILWAUKEE - Jake Long of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee baseball team has been named the Horizon League Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced this afternoon.

The weekly award is the first of his career and the second for Milwaukee this season, joining senior Cale Tassi who earned the honor last week.

The senior righty allowed just one earned run while tossing a complete-game four-hitter to pick up the 4-1 victory over Wright State this past Friday. It was the first complete game of his career and the first tossed by a Panther since May of 2011.

Long recorded three strikeouts and worked around any trouble he got into. Not a single runner made it to third after the first inning and just two made it as far as second base. From the middle of the fourth inning through a two-out single in the eighth, Long retired 13 straight Raiders batters.

Long and the rest of the Panthers continue Horizon League play this weekend, heading to Chicago for a three-game series at UIC.
