Friday's Home Opener Against Butler Postponed
April 5, 2007
MILWAUKEE - For the second time in three days, the weather is having an effect on the schedule of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee baseball team. This time, its home opener against Butler, scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, will now be postponed. The doubleheader at Miller Park Saturday will go on as planned.
Due to the low temperatures and high winds forecasted for Friday, UWM head coach Scott Doffek has announced that the game at Henry Aaron Field will be postponed and become part of the Panther's league series in Indianapolis, Ind., when UWM travels to play Butler in May.
That three-game set will now become four, with the two teams playing a doubleheader on both Friday and Saturday, May 18-19. Game time for the postponed contest will be announced at a later time.
By default, Milwaukee's home opener then becomes the first game at Miller Park Saturday, tentatively scheduled for 4 p.m. The game will start one hour after the completion of the Brewers/Cubs contest that day. Once the eighth inning of the Major League game starts, parking and admission to the stadium will be free for the Panthers game against the Bulldogs.
