Baseball Home Opener Postponed Again
April 8, 2013
MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee baseball team will once again have to wait to play its first home game of the 2013 season.
Head coach Scott Doffek announced this afternoon that Tuesday's home contest against Chicago State University has been postponed due to the weather and field conditions at Henry Aaron Field.
Tomorrow's game was set to once-again be the home opener after Milwaukee had to postpone its original opener and also play a three-game series against Valparaiso down in Chicago. The team has now played its first 26 games away from its home field.
A couple of moves had to be made to rearrange the schedule this time. Milwaukee and Chicago State were already scheduled for another game May 1 in Chicago. That game will now be moved and played at Henry Aaron Field with a 2 p.m. start time May 1. A new game has also been added to the schedule, with the Panthers heading to play at the home field of the Cougars on May 15, set for a 3 p.m. start.
UWM still hopes to play Wednesday against Parkside, scheduled to start at 3 p.m. at Henry Aaron Field. Check back to uwmpanthers.com for any updates.
CORRECTION: The added game was incorrectly listed as May 15 on the original press release. The date of that makeup contest is May 13, still set for a 3 p.m. first pitch in Chicago.
