UWM Baseball Set To Return To Miller Park Friday
April 25, 2011
MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee baseball team continues its tradition of playing at the home of the Milwaukee Brewers each season when it hosts Youngstown State University in a doubleheader Friday at Miller Park. The Horizon League contests are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. that day. For the first time while playing at Miller Park, the Brewers will not be playing before UWM that day, so start times will not be subject to change, as have been in the past. Parking lots and gates open at 2 p.m. and admission for the games and parking are both free. Concession stands will be available until midway through the second game as well. Through a marketing agreement with the Milwaukee Brewers, the Panthers have played at Miller Park every season since 2002. UWM has gone 12-7 in the games at the Major League Baseball park. - From 5 to 7 p.m., the Airtran Landing Zone will be open to Panther fans. The Panthers will also be honoring the members of the 20th Anniversary Team that day, on the field in between games. Come out to recognize the finest players to put on a UWM uniform over the past 20 years as an NCAA Division I program. The infield consists of Chad Sadowski (1997-2000) at first base, Jesse Hart (2005-08) at second base, Matt Houk (2000-01) at shortstop and Jak Kraus (1992-96) at third base. The three outfielders to secure spots on the team are Eric Goerdt (2000-01), Mike Goetz (2005-06) and Darin Haugom (1997-2001). The catcher is John Vanden Berg (2001-02). Ben Long (2008-10) is the choice at designated hitter and Charlie Reschke (2002-05) is the utility player selection.
