Honors Pour In For Panther Recruits Wichmann, Prahl
April 9, 2013
MILWAUKEE - The awards have been piling up for a pair of University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's basketball recruits.
The latest addition to that list saw Pulaski's Cody Wichmann named Press-Gazette Media Boys Player of the Year.
Wichmann and Brett Prahl, both of whom signed with the Panthers this past November, were also each named to all-state squads by both the Associated Press and the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association.
Wichmann led Pulaski to its first state title in any sport in earning unanimous Division 2 First Team All-State honors from the WBCA, while he claimed a spot on the AP's fourth-team all-divisions squad. He averaged 15.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists per game this past season and wound up as Pulaski's all-time leading scorer with 1,372 points
Prahl led East Troy to a second-place finish in the state while averaging 19.7 points per game. He was on the WBCA's Division 3 First Team and also claimed a place on the AP's fourth-team all-divisions squad. Plus, Prahl was the co-player of the year in the Rock Valley North Conference.
The pair joins Milwaukee native and junior college transfer Trinson White in the signing class to date. White, a Riverside High School graduate, helped Indian Hills Community College to a 26-4 record while averaging 6.2 points per game on the year. White was limited by injury in the second half of the season after averaging eight points per game and reaching double figures six times in the first 12 games of the year.
