Panther Standouts Take The Court This Summer

MILWAUKEE - A number of current and former University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's basketball players are finding their way onto the court this summer. The headliner is former All-Horizon League player Clay Tucker, who will play on the summer league team of the Philadelphia 76ers. Tucker makes his 76ers debut in the Orlando Pro Summer League this afternoon at 4 p.m. central time against the Indiana Pacers. Today's game, as well as the remainder of games scheduled for this week, can be seen live on NBA TV. The rest of this week's schedule for Tucker and the 76ers includes a matchup with Utah Tuesday (10 a.m.), Brooklyn Wednesday (2 p.m.), Orlando Thursday (4 p.m.) and Detroit (11 a.m.). Tucker played this past season in Italy, most recently with Virtus Roma. He also starred for Real Madrid in the Spanish league in 2010-11. He has previously appeared in the NBA Summer League for Cleveland and Detroit. Meanwhile, three current Panthers and four former players are currently on rosters for the Scion Dental Milwaukee Summer Pro-Am, which opened play this past weekend. Kyle Kelm and J.J. Panoske are playing for Schell Dentistry. In the league opener this past Friday, Panoske had 23 points and six rebounds while Kelm added 10 boards. James Haarsma is playing for RYCO and had 23 points and seven rebounds in the opener. Ricky Franklin and Anthony Hill are teaming up for the Gruber Law squad while Jason Averkamp is on the AthletiCo team and Jerard Ajami is playing for Scion Dental.
League games are on weekends, generally Fridays and Saturdays, for the next month. Most games are played at Greenfield High School while the league finals will be played at the Al McGuire Center. |
