Panthers Fall Cold, Lose To #25 Wisconsin11/29/2008 - Trevon Hughes scored a game-high 16 points as #25 Wisconsin claimed a 67-46 win over the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Saturday morning at the Kohl Center. Tony Meier and Deonte Roberts scored 11 points apiece for Milwaukee (3-4), which started well on offense but fell cold over the final 30 minutes. Marcus Landry and Joe Krabbenhoft added 12 points apiece for the Badgers (5-1), who held the Panthers to a season-low offensive output. Tone Boyle added nine for UWM. The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's basketball team makes the short trip west to Madison to take on the University of Wisconsin Saturday morning. The Panthers dropped a disappointing 82-69 contest to Ball State Tuesday night as the Cardinals shot 57.7 percent from the field, and UWM will now be facing a BCS foe for the third-straight weekend. The Panthers do still lead the Horizon League in scoring, averaging more than 75 points per game. Meanwhile, the Badgers finished second at the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands, beating Iona and San Diego before falling to #2 UCONN. A memorial service for Bob Jeter, the father of University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's basketball coach Rob Jeter, will be held Monday in Chicago. Robert DeLafayette Jeter, Jr., 71, died last Thursday (Nov. 20) of an apparent heart attack while at his home in Chicago. He was recuperating from prostate cancer surgery. Bob Jeter was well-known as a standout for the Green Bay Packers, playing on a pair of Super Bowl champions before earning a spot in the Packers Hall of Fame. He also played in the Canadian Football League and for the Chicago Bears after a stellar collegiate career at Iowa. Services will be held on Mon. Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. at Martin Temple AMEZ Church at 6930 Cottage Grove in Chicago. Read Full Release |
