MILWAUKEE - John Shakon of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's soccer team has been accepted into the prestigious UWM Investment Management Certificate Program

The program is a very rigorous training ground for students who are seeking to become investment professionals. To excel in the program, it is important for students to be able to devote as much time as possible to learning and contributing to their team of fellow student-investors.

"I have wanted to do it because I have been around investments all of my life," Shakon said. "I am very excited about it. This career path is really something that I want to pursue."

In addition to an application process, candidates are required to interview for positions in the program with the admissions committee. As part of the interview process, students also write an impromptu essay on an investment-related topic.
