Coleman Will Not Return As Men's Soccer Coach
Nov. 20, 2009
MILWAUKEE - Jon Coleman will not return as the men's soccer coach at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Director of Athletics George Koonce announced today. Coleman has been the head coach for the past four seasons, compiling a 20-44-12 record. This season, the Panthers finished 3-13-2, falling to Valparaiso in the first round of the Horizon League Tournament. "We truly appreciate Jon's efforts and his commitment to UWM," Koonce said. "But, it is best if we move in another direction. Men's soccer at Milwaukee has a great tradition and Jon played a big role in that over the 17-straight years he has been a part of the program as a player, assistant coach and head coach. We look forward to continuing that winning tradition in the future." UWM's men's soccer team has played in eight NCAA Tournaments, with Coleman an assistant coach as UWM went to the NCAA Tournament for five-straight years. He was also an assistant on teams that won five regular season conference and four Horizon League Tournament titles. A national search for a replacement will begin immediately.
