Former Panther Gramenz Named Head Coach Of Minnesota Thunder11/19/2008 - Former University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's soccer player Don Gramenz was named the head coach of the Minnesota Thunder Tuesday. He becomes just the third head coach in the 20-year history of the Thunder, a team in the United Soccer Leagues First Division. Gramenz was a four-year letter winner at Milwaukee from 1990-93, helping the team go 49-22-7 in his four seasons while claiming two league titles and appearing in the 1990 NCAA Tournament. Gramenz appeared in 70 games during his career and scored 57 points on 19 goals and 19 assists. Freshman Eric Frazier scored in the 34th minute to give the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's soccer team a 1-0 lead, but it could not hold on when Wright State University scored three unanswered goals late in the match to take the 3-1 victory Thursday night at Alumni Field. The Panthers (4-10-5) see their season come to a close in the first round of the Horizon League Tournament for just the second time in the past nine years, while the Raiders (6-13-1) advance to play Cleveland State Sunday. Frazier opened the scoring at the 33:19 mark, taking a pass from near midfield off the foot of senior Travis Phillips and converting for his sixth goal of the season. Freshman Eric Frazier of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's soccer team was named to the All-Horizon League Second Team when the league office announced the men's soccer postseason teams and awards Thursday. Frazier was also named a member of the Horizon League All-Newcomer Team, where he was joined by fellow freshman Tony Maxey. Read Full Release |
