Sayler comes to Milwaukee after serving as the Aquatics Director at Frankfort High School in Frankfort, Ind., and eight seasons with the Sugar Creek Swim Club in Crawfordsville, Ind. "I feel very fortunate to have Brittany joining the staff," UWM head coach Kyle Clements said. "There were many different attributes that I was in search of when I was looking for a new assistant and Brittany meets all of them. There is much to be said about all of her accomplishments in and out of the pool. But, the drive, demeanor and personality that she brings to this program could never be overstated. She will be an intricate part of the forward progress of this program. It was only a matter of time before Brittany found her way back into college swimming and we feel that we are very luck to have her." Over her final two seasons with the USA Swimming club, Sayler started a satellite program. As the head coach, she worked with athletes ranging in age from six-to-21, from beginning swimmers to national-qualifying athletes. "This is an exciting time to be a Panther," Sayler said. "This group of student-athletes is on a mission this season, and they're tackling every obstacle in their way. After finishing so well, both individually and in the team standings, the team has come into the this campaign focused and determined to perform even better than in the seasons past. We've got a great group of senior leadership who not only lead the team vocally, but are also leading by example in the water, weight room, and throughout dryland. I'm excited about working with this team for another season, and I'm enthusiastic about what the future holds for UWM Swimming and Diving." In 2007, she also served as the assistant coach for both the boys and girls swimming and diving programs at Frankfort High School, in Frankfort, Ind. She helped the boys to a first-place showing in conference that initial season and was hired on as the head coach following graduation from Ball State University. In her tenure, multiple records were broken and, in February of 2010, she was named Coach of the Year for the West Lafayette Boys Sectional. A four-year swimmer at Ball State, Sayler qualified for the 2006 U.S. Open in the 100 and 200 backstroke. The team co-captain as a senior, she twice earned Mid-American Conference Academic All-Team honors and was nominated MAC Senior of the Year. In addition to claiming all-league second-team honors on two occasions, she broke school records in both backstroke events and was named the team's Most Outstanding Freshman her first season. Following her four years in the pool, she worked a season as the student assistant at Ball State. |
