Heger Named League Diver Of The Week
Jan. 23, 2012
MILWAUKEE - Freshman K.J. Heger of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's swimming and diving team has been named Horizon League Diver of the Week, the league office announced this afternoon. This is the third time Heger has been recognized by the league for his efforts in just his first collegiate season. He also won the award Oct. 24 and Oct. 31. Heger broke the school record on the three-meter board in convincing fashion this weekend at the UIC Diving Invitational. The freshman posted a score of 350.85, knocking off previous record of 340.50 set by Mike Friehe back in 1992. "Our diving records have been a long time coming. We have too good of a program to see records stay that long," Milwaukee head coach Kyle Clements said. "Seeing K.J. win the event on three meter was incredible. High school divers normally only dive on the one meter, so seeing him get the three-meter record already is just an outstanding accomplishment." He also took second on the one meter, scoring a season-best 304.20, behind only teammate Lee Anderson (308.90). Milwaukee hits the road for the final time next weekend when it heads to Macomb, Ill. to take on Western Illinois in a dual meet Saturday at 1 p.m.
