Reilly Leads Way in Day One For Milwaukee
April 13, 2012 Terre Haute, Ind. - Junior Jake Reilly took second in the 5000m to lead the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's track & field team in the first day of events at the Pacesetter Quadrangular hosted by Indiana State University at Marks Field Friday. After just five events, Milwaukee sits in third place with 31 points. Southern Illinois is in first with 62 points, ISU is in second with 61 and Butler sits in fourth with 21. Reilly finished the day's final event with an outstanding time of 14:49.85, just missing the school's all-time top-10 performance list. Junior Ryan Baumgartner finished eighth in 15:33.34 to also score for UWM, while senior Thomas Wells took ninth in 15:36.16. In field events, junior Dan Simon was Milwaukee's top finisher in long jump, taking fifth overall with a season-best leap of 21-5 1/4 (6.53m). Junior Jake Whitewater was eighth at 20-4 1/2 (6.21m) to also score for the Panthers, while Drew Feuk (6.17m) was ninth and Ben Crogan (5.97m) came in 11th. Senior Matt Jensen had a toss of 172-10 (52.68m) in hammer throw for eighth overall. Freshman Jake Goodwiler came in 11th at 129-7 (39.49m). Goodwiler also had a strong showing in shot put, taking eighth after an impressive heave of 41-6 (12.65m), over three feet further than his previous season best. Jensen took 10th at 39-8 3/4 (12.11m) to also score in the event.
Competition will resume Saturday at 10 a.m. with field events and running events slatted to start at 11:30. |
