Busby Leads Panthers At Drake Relays
April 27, 2012 Des Moines, Iowa - Junior Durell Busby qualified for Saturday's final in the 110m hurdles against some of his top competition to lead the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's and women's track & field teams in their first day of action at the 103rd running of the storied Drake Relays. One week after breaking his own school record in the event, Busby, who is ranked 24th in the country, crossed the line in 14.01 seconds to take fifth and qualify among the top eight for Saturday's anticipated final that features five others currently ranked in the top 100 nationally in the event. Nick Hughes had a strong showing in high jump, clearing 6-6 3/4 (2.00m) for 18th overall. In the 4x400m relay, Cory Yttre, Jordan Schmidt, Alex Delveaux and Jake Spaciel combined to finish with a time of 3:20.17 for 21st overall on the men's side. In women's action, Chelsea Maxey, Shelby Schaal, Kristi Schuette and Erika Hanson teamed up for a time of 3:55.66. Action will resume Saturday in Des Moines starting at 8 a.m. Milwaukee will also compete in the Marquette Invitational Saturday, with field events set to start at 10 a.m. and running events slatted for 2 in the afternoon.
