MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Feb. 22, 2011) - Scott Erickson and Chia Okonkwo of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee track and field teams have been named Horizon League Athletes of the Week for Feb. 21, the league office announced today.

Erickson was named men's field athlete of the week for the second time this season, while Okonkwo picked up her first women's track athlete of the week selection.

Erickson won the shot put at the UWM Panther Tune-Up last weekend, throwing a personal-best 51-4 1/2 in the event. That distance is seventh in school history. He also took third in the weight throw, tossing 46-1 1/4.

Okonkwo was also victorious at the Tune-Up, taking top honors in the 60m hurdles. She crossed the line in 8.73 to break her own Klotsche Center record (8.76). She came back minutes later to also compete in the 60m, taking third in 7.92.

The Panthers are back in action this Saturday and Sunday at the 2011 Horizon League Indoor Championships in Cleveland. The Milwaukee men are looking for a 15th-straight league title, while the women are going for a fifth indoor title in six years.
