MILWAUKEE - Sophomore Steve Saul was named Horizon League Athlete of the Week for his performance last weekend at the the Bradley Invitational in Peoria, Ill., the league office announced Tuesday.

Saul finished 11th overall in the field of 202 at Bradley, setting a new personal best at 8K process. His time of 25:30 shattered his old mark of 26:26, set at last year's Horizon League Championships. Saul's performance led the Panthers to a fourth-place overall finish.

Saul is the first Panther to be honored by the league since Aaron Nodolf earned the league's award on October 3, 2000.

UWM will have their next competition on Sept. 27 when they travel to Detroit, Mich., for the Central Collegiate Championships.
