Panther Notes - Oct. 3, 2009 - Loyola Lakefront Invitational (Chicago, Ill.)

• The Loyola Lakefront Invitational gets underway with the women's race at 11 a.m., with the men's race to follow at 12:15 p.m.

• Milwaukee has had two weeks off since running at the Midwest Collegiate Open Sept. 19. The men placed fifth ion the 15-team field, led by four scorers in the top-22. On the women's side, senior Abbie Zaspek took 14th and freshman Elise Sigg 15th to lead the squad to an eighth-place showing (16 teams).

• The Panther men have show good group running at each of the first three meets, with senior Mike Sorenson, sophomore Chris Schuenke and freshmen John Simons and Jake Reilly sharing top-four running duties. Reilly, Schuenke and Simons have each snagged top honors for the team, while the group took second through fourth at the Huskie Invite and all finished in the top-22 last weekend.

• For the women, Zaspel and Sigg have run one and two for the team at each of the first three meets this season. Zaspel won the Huskie Invite and was runner-up at the UIC Home Opener. In her first season, Sigg has been able to keep pace with Zaspel for the most part, finishing one place back of the senior twice.

• UWM gets another two-week break before returning to action at the Bradley Classic Oct. 16 in Peoria, Ill.
