Milwaukee Finishes Season With 20th-Place Finish11/15/2008 - Junior Ryan Mleziva paced the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's cross country team to a 20th-place finish at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional with an 87th-place finish Saturday morning at the meet hosted by Purdue University. The Panthers finished with 589 points as the third Horizon League team and the 20th overall. Wisconsin took first place at the meet with 39 points. The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's and women's cross country teams head to Lafayette, Ind., Saturday for the 2008 NCAA Great Lakes Regional. The Panthers are coming off a pair of strong performances at the Horizon League Championships Nov. 2, where the women took second by just eight points and the men finished third. Junior Ryan Mleziva took 13th to earn all-league second team status and lead the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's cross country team to a third-place finish at the 2008 Horizon League Championship Saturday. The Panthers, who took eighth at the meet last season, finished with 105 points to trail only first-place Butler and Loyola. Meanwhile, UIC, which took fourth, was eight points back. Mleziva crossed the line in 25:50 for his first all-league award. Freshman Dan Uphoff, who finished within six seconds of Mleziva at three of the first four meets of the season, was just seven seconds back in 15th place. Uphoff missed all-league second team honors by just one place, or three seconds. Read Full Release |
