Laur Named Horizon League Player of the Week
MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Feb. 28, 2011) - Lindsay Laur of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's basketball team was named the Horizon League Player of the Week for Feb. 28, the league office announced today The award is the first for Laur, while she is the second Panther honored this season following Sami Tucker Feb. 7. Laur had a memorable weekend, averaging 16.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game, while leading Milwaukee to a 2-0 record. On Saturday, she was honored before the game alongside the team's other four seniors as a part of Senior Day. Then, she hit the game-winning layup with 4.9 seconds remaining to give UWM the 70-69 win. She finished with 13 points and nine rebounds, but scored seven of her team's final nine points of regulation as the Panthers overcame a six-point deficit in the last two minutes. She did so playing with four fouls. Thursday, she scored 20 points, pulled down nine rebounds and dished out five assists in a 73-66 win over Butler. Laur and the Panthers close out the regular season on the road this week. Milwaukee plays at Detroit Thursday and Wright State Saturday.
