NCAA Pairings Parties Set For This Weekend
March 10, 2006
MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee athletic department will host NCAA Tournament Pairings Parties both Sunday and Monday.
Both events, which are free and open to all UWM students and staff as well as the general public, will be held at the Gasthaus in the basement of the UWM Union. Parking is available in the Union Garage, as well as other places on campus. Sunday's program for the men's pairings will begin at 4:30, while Monday's program for the women's pairings will start at 5:30. In each case, fans are encouraged to arrive early as a large crowd is expected.
The men's pairings will be officially announced at 5 p.m. CST Sunday on CBS. The women's pairings will be announced at 6 p.m. CST Monday on ESPN. UWM has both its men's and women's basketball teams heading to the NCAA Tournament in the same year for the first time in school history.
Both teams and coaching staffs will be made available to the media at the event following the announcement of the pairings.
Meanwhile, fans interested in purchasing NCAA Tournament tickets for either the men or the women can call the UWM Ticket Office at 414-229-5886 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to have their names placed on a waiting list. Ticket requests will be prioritized by fulfilling season-ticket holder and UWM student requests first. Full ticket information will be made available once the pairings are finalized.
The UWM men advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second-straight year and for the third time in four years with an 87-71 win over Butler Tuesday night in front of 10,021 fans at the U.S. Cellular Arena. The UWM women qualified for their second NCAA Tournament with a 71-63 win over UIC Monday night at the Klotsche Center.
