David Madsen is in his third season as an assistant coach with the Milwaukee women's soccer team. He came to Milwaukee after spending four years as the head men's and women's soccer coach at Lakeland College in Sheboygan.

Madsen is in his first season as the top assistant on staff and will continue to work with the goalkeepers. In addition to his positional work, he had also spear-headed the recruiting efforts in his first two seasons.

Last season was a standout campaign for the Milwaukee goalkeeping corps. Jamie Forbes anchored a tremendous defense, posting a 0.66 goals against average and 11 shutouts on her way to Horizon League Goalkeeper and Co-Defensive Player of the Year awards, as well as a spot on the NSCAA All-Region First Team. In total, Panther keepers combined on 12 total shutouts and stopped nearly 86 percent of shots on goal in 2011.

Madsen also works locally with goalkeepers at FC Milwaukee and is a staff coach with the ODP program in Wisconsin.

In 2008, Madsen led the Lakeland men to their first winning season since 1994. The Muskies went 8-7-2 that year and posted a school record for goals in a season. On the women's side, LC posted a pair of 10-win seasons in his tenure.

Prior to Lakeland, Madsen coached and played under current Panther head coach Greg Henschel at UW-Whitewater. He spent three seasons as an assistant at his alma mater, serving as an assistant with both the men' and women's sides. The Warhawk men went to the NCAA Tournament in each of his three seasons, advancing to the second round in 2004. On the women's side, his tenure included an 11-3-2 record in 2003.

As a goalkeeper at UWW, Madsen helped the Warhawks to three NCAA Tournaments. As a senior, he earned all-region honors, while posting a 0.71 goals against average, 11 shutouts and a 16-5-1 record. That year, he led UWW to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the third time. He capped his career with a 0.92 career GAA in 59 games.

A native of the Milwaukee area, Madsen was a standout goalkeeper at Brookfield East High School, leading the team to the 1997 WIAA Division 1 state championship and earned all-conference honors. He also played with FC Milwaukee, winning WYSA State Championships four times and a Region II title in 2002.

Madsen graduated from UWW with his degree in business in 2003 and earned his master's in curriculum and instruction from Lakeland in 2005. Madsen currently holds his National "B" License from the USSF.
