Contact Coach Madsen David Madsen is in his second year as an assistant coach with the Milwaukee women's soccer team. He came to Milwaukee after spending four years as the head men's and women's soccer coach at Lakeland College in Sheboygan. With the Panthers, Madsen's primary responsibilities will be working with goalkeepers and spear-heading the recruiting efforts. "Dave has a wealth of coaching experience that he brings to our program after serving as a head coach for both the men's and women's teams at Lakeland," Moynihan said. "He also specializes in training goalkeepers, which will be important for us. Most importantly, though, he is an exceptional fit for the values we espouse as a program. He is hardworking, trustworthy, passionate about soccer and extremely committed. He really walks the walk and he's going to be a great addition to our staff and our program." In 2008, Madsen led the Muskie men to their first winning season since 1994. Lakeland went 8-7-2 that year and posted a school record for goals in a season. On the women's side, LC posted a pair of 10-win seasons in his tenure. Madsen also recently finished his first season as goalkeeper coach with the Chicago Red Eleven of the W-League, where Nikolic serves as the head coach. Prior to Lakeland, Madsen spent three seasons as an assistant at his alma mater, UW-Whitewater. There, he served as an assistant with both the men' and women's sides. The Warhawk men went to the NCAA Tournament in each of his three seasons, advancing to the second round in 2004. On the women's side, his tenure included an 11-3-2 record in 2003. As a goalkeeper at Whitewater, Madsen helped the Warhawks to three NCAA Tournaments. As a senior, he earned all-region honors, while posting a 0,71 goals against average, 11 shutouts and a 16-5-1 record. That year, he led UWW to the third round of the NCAA Tournament. He capped his career with a 0.92 career GAA in 59 games. A native of the Milwaukee area, Madsen was a standout goalkeeper at Brookfield East High School, leading the team to the 1997 WIAA Division 1 state championship and earned all-conference honors. Madsen graduated from UWW with his degree in business in 2003 and earned his master's in curriculum and instruction from UWW in 2005. Madsen currently holds his National "C" License from the USSF. |
