24th-Ranked Panthers Roll Past Cleveland State
Oct. 10, 2008
CLEVELAND, Ohio - Sarah Hagen scored a pair of goals and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee took complete control of the match in the first 20 minutes as the 24th-ranked Panthers claimed a 7-0 win over Cleveland State Friday night.
Milwaukee (11-2-2, 3-1 Horizon) scored four goals in the first 19:25 and never looked back in tallying its biggest offensive output of the season.
Kayla DeJardin opened the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 14th minute and Keara Thompson followed with an unassisted goal just 41 seconds later. By the time Hagen scored two-straight goals within 48 seconds in the 19th and 20th minutes, the Panthers had the match well in hand.
"I was very happy with how we played. It was good to see us score early and have the match in control by the half," UWM head coach Mike Moynihan said. "We play a lot of close matches in the league so it was nice to see us get some goals early and put the game out of reach. We were then able to get a lot of players some good experience in a league contest."
Milwaukee then added a pair of goals in the second half. Laurel Ragalie notched her second goal of the season in the 57th minute while Chelsea Colling scored her first goal of the year in the 84th minute.
Kane made a pair of saves while Deebach was called upon to make three, including one on a breakaway late in the match that kept the shutout in tact.
