June 9, 2014
MILWAUKEE - Former University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's soccer standout Sarah Hagen is returning stateside for another training camp with the U.S. Women's National Team before returning home for good in joining FC Kansas City.
Hagen will now rejoin Team USA under new head coach Jill Ellis as one of the 26 players to train in preparation for two games against France later this month. The first is scheduled for June 14 in Tampa, Fla., with the second set for June 19 in East Hartford, Conn. Both games kick off at 6:30 p.m. central and will be streamed live on ussoccer.com.
She earned her first cap for the national squad back in March, competing in two games during the Algarve Cup in Portugal.
Hagen wrapped up her two-plus year time with German club FC Bayern Munich Sunday in the Frauen-Bundesliga season finale. The former Panther helped her club to impressive heights during her time there, amassing an impressive 43 goals in 60 total appearances, including the team's lone goal in her final game. She also scored the game-winner in the DFB-Pokal Championship in her first season with the club.
Following the trip with the national team, the Appleton, Wis. native will then join her new club in Kansas City. The Blues are currently fourth in the nine-team National Women's Soccer League, but are just one point shy of second place at the midway point of their season. The team's season finale will take place just 90 minutes south of Milwaukee as FCKC travels to Benedictine U. Sports Complex to take on the Chicago Red Stars on Saturday, Aug. 9.
