Hagen Named Horizon League Co-Player Of The Week
MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Sept. 26, 2011) - Sarah Hagen of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's soccer team has been named the Horizon League Co-Player of the Week for Sept. 26, the league office announced today.
Hagen, who shares the award with Green Bay goalkeeper Maddie Drusch, earns it for the second time this season and the league-record 13th time in her career.
Milwaukee went 2-0 last week, behind a pair of goals and assists from the Appleton native. Hagen scored the game-winner on Friday in a 4-0 win over Western Illinois and assisted on another goal in the match. Sunday, she assisted on the Panthers' first goal and scored their second in a 2-1 win over league foe Detroit.
This season, Hagen has a league-best 13 goals and 30 points, while scoring the deciding goal in seven games for UWM. In fact, she has game-winning goals in her team's last four games--a school record--and in each of its last six wins.
The Panthers are off to a school-record 10-1 start, including 2-0 in league play. They have been nationally ranked for much of the season, resting at No. 12 in the Soccer America national poll last week and No. 15 in the NSCAA poll. The squad has also been No. 1 in the Great Lakes region for three-straight weeks.
UWM returns to action this weekend, heading to Dayton, Ohio, for a contest with Wright State Saturday. The Panthers and Raiders kick off at 4 p.m.
