Milwaukee Set For NCAA Selection Show Monday
MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Nov. 4, 2012) - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's soccer team will gather at the UWM Pavilion Monday afternoon to watch the NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament Selection Show, which will stream at 3:30 p.m. at NCAA.com.
The Panthers earned the Horizon League's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament for the fifth-straight season Sunday with a 1-0 double-overtime win over Wright State.
The show will announce first round opponents and sites for the 64 teams that have earned berths in the national tournament. Head coach Greg Henschel and some UWM players will be available for interviews following the announcement of the Panthers' first round opponent.
The viewing party will be in room 148 of the Pavilion, the classroom of the Athletic Department offices suite.
Milwaukee is led by Horizon League Player of the Year Helen Steinhauser, fellow all-league first-teamers Kelsey Holbert and Kelly Lewers, as well as Krissy Dorre and Amy Kauffung, who were named to the all-league second team. Dorre scored game-winners in double overtime of both league tournament games this weekend and was named the Tournament MVP. She was joined on the all-tournament team by Steinhauser, Holbert, Kauffung and keeper Jamie Forbes.
The Panthers are making their 10th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and ninth with the Horizon League's automatic berth. Milwaukee made previous tournament trips in 1997, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006 and 2008-11. The team previously been sent to Minnesota (1997), Madison (2009), Notre Dame twice (2006, 08), across town to Marquette four times (2001-02, 2005, 2010). They also hosted their 2011 First Round match.
The UWM Pavilion is located at 3409 N. Downer Ave. The Athletic Department suite is accesible off the building atrium and room 148 is off the main hallway.
