Freshman striker leads the nation with 24 goals, second with 54 points

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Nov. 14, 2008) - Freshman Sarah Hagen of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's soccer team was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Freshman All-American team, the online publication announced Thursday.

Hagen is Milwaukee's first freshman All-American since current seniors Erin Kane and Sarah Teegarden in 2005. Freshman are inelgibile for the publication's "Team of the Season."

Hagen currently leads the nation with a school and league-record 24 goals this season. She is also second in the country with a school-record 54 points. The rookie from Appleton, Wis., has had goal-scoring streaks of seven games two times this season, while scoring multiple goals in a game a school-record six times. She tallied her first hat trick in a 6-2 over Loyola last Sunday in the Horizon League Championship game and was named the league tournament MVP.

Hagen was named the Horizon League Newcomer of the Year and was an all-league first team selection. She has also been named to four national teams of the week, including this week to the Soccer America team, and the league player of the week three times.

The Panthers are in South Bend, Ind., this weekend for the NCAA Tournament. Milwaukee takes on Michigan State Friday at 4 p.m. central, with the winner advancing to the second round Sunday to take on the winner of No. 1 Notre Dame and Toledo at noon.
