MILWAUKEE - Junior Diana Diel of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's swimming team has been named Horizon League Swimmer of the Week, the league office announced this morning.

This is the third time Diel has been honored by the league in her career and the first time this season.

The Delafield, Wis. native won both of her individual events on the weekend to help the Panthers to a team win over conference rival Green Bay, the second-straight year UWM has knocked off the Phoenix.

Diel started her day with a convincing win in the 200 free, cruising to victory with a time of 1:54.52, nearly two seconds in front of the next finisher. She also took the top spot in the 100 free with a winning time of 52.65. The junior also was a part of the 400 freestyle relay team that took first in the final event of the meet.

The Panthers now prepare for post-season action as they get set to defend their Horizon League Championship title starting Wednesday, Feb. 27 at UIC.
