Four Panthers Aim For Olympics

MILWAUKEE - Over the next week, four members of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee athletics department will compete in hopes to earn a trip to this year's summer Olympics. Senior Jordan Diel and sophomores Emily McClellan and Becky Yokosh will swim at the United State Olympic Trials in Omaha, Neb. starting Monday while junior Durell Busby will run in his home country of Trinidad & Tobago on Saturday. Track Information Busby will run in the Sagicor NGC National Open Championships at Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, Trinidad on Saturday. His race in the 110m hurdles is scheduled to start at approximately 2:10 p.m. central time. Live results for that meet can be found here. Swimming Information Milwaukee's three swimmers will compete in the massive over a variety of days. Prelims for each event start at 10 a.m., with the fastest 16 advancing to the semifinals. From there, the top eight will swim in the finals where the top two swimmers in each event will punch their tickets to London. Yokosh will be the first Panther in the pool at the elite meet, competing in the 100m backstroke Tuesday, June 26. She is currently ranked 112th out of 167 in the event. Yokosh will swim again in the 200m backstroke Saturday, June 30th. McClellan will also swim on Tuesday, as she is ranked 10th in the nation in the 100m breaststroke. The sophomore will compete again Friday, June 29 in the 200m breaststroke where she is currently seeded 40th out of 133. Diel is seeded 73rd overall in the 100m butterfly and will swim Saturday, June 30.
