Soule Becomes UWM's All-Time Doubles Victory Leader But Panthers Fall At MU
Feb. 3, 2013
MILWAUKEE - Maddy Soule became the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's all-time leader in doubles victories but the Panthers fell to crosstown rival Marquette 7-0 Sunday at the Helfaer Tennis Center.
Soule teamed with Christina Colarossi for an 8-5 win in the top doubles slot, giving the senior 55 doubles wins in her two-plus seasons in Milwaukee. She and Colarossi have now teamed up for a 15-2 mark in doubles during the 2012-13 season alone. A week ago, Soule also became UWM's all-time leader in singles wins.
In the match with the Golden Eagles, the Soule/Colarossi victory was the only doubles outing Milwaukee would win, though Dana Shannon and Kelly Fritz just missed out in an 8-6 contest in the second doubles slot.
In singles play, Soule pushed Ana Pimienta to three sets in the top slot before falling, while Dana Shannon also hung tough in a 7-5, 6-2 loss in the third spot.
The Panthers head to Des Moines, Iowa, for three matches this weekend, as Milwaukee will square off with North Dakota, Drake and UTEP.
