Panthers Claim Seven More Wins On Day Two Of Invite

Four players in singles semis, one tandem in doubles final

PEORIA, Ill. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team captured more five singles wins and a pair of doubles victories on day two of the Hotels At Grand Prairie Invitational Saturday.

Kelly Drvaric, Sammi Schoen, Ashley Schoneman and Megan Gow will all compete in semifinal action Sunday after capturing singles wins Saturday. Meanwhile, Schoneman and Schoen will play in a doubles final after securing a pair of victories during the day.

Drvaric and Schoen will meet each other in one semifinal of Flight A. Drvaric beat Juliana Frey of Eastern Illinois, 6-3, 6-2, while Schoen knocked off former Panther Martina Schnapp (now at Northern Illinois), 7-5, 6-4.

In Flight B, Ashley Schoneman claimed a 6-2, 6-4 victory of Jessica Buterbaugh of Bradley and will play in one semifinal match Sunday. Freshman Megan Gow will play in the other semifinal contest after a 6-4, 6-4 win over Annie Egan of Eastern Illinois.

In doubles play, Schoneman and Schoen claimed 8-0 and 8-4 wins to advance to the final against a tandem from Bradley.

Action at the event wraps up Sunday. Doubles play resumes at 9 a.m. with singles play restarting at 11 a.m.
