JACKSON, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team posted a total of 18 wins and went 3-0-1 in team competition on the first day of the Panther Round Robin.

Christina Colarossi and Kelly Fritz each collected four wins between singles and doubles play to lead the way.

The event, played indoors at the Pleasant Valley Tennis Club, also includes Bradley and Green Bay.

Colarossi and Fritz each posted 2-0 records in singles, as did Kristin Kurer. Colarossi then teamed with Maddy Soule for a 2-0 mark in doubles play, while Fritz did the same paired with Dana Shannon.

In the team duals, UWM scored a 5-3 singles win over Bradley and a 5-1 singles win over Green Bay. In doubles action, UWM and Bradley split, 2-2, in the 10 a.m. flight while Milwaukee claimed three doubles matches against Green Bay.

The first day of play left Milwaukee head coach Sean McInerney eager to see his team continue its improvement as it looks toward the spring campaign.

"I think today showed us that we have a lot of work to do to be a consistently good program," McInerney said. "I was really impressed by how hard Bradley played and I hope that we learn a lesson from them. We really need to improve on our point structure and maintaining a level of energy throughout an entire match. I am looking forward to getting back on the courts tomorrow and improving."

Play continues Sunday from approximately 8 a.m.-noon at Pleasant Valley.
