CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Maddy Soule moved into the third round of the ITA Regional qualifying draw with a straight-sets victory Thursday afternoon in Champaign, Ill.

Soule defeated Kara Sherwood of Cleveland State, 6-2, 6-1, to advance in the event. The Panther senior will now face Audrey O'Connor of Illinois Friday at 9 a.m.

In other action Thursday, Theresa Neumeyr of IPFW knocked off UWM's Dana Shannon, 6-2, 6-3, while Katherine Sharples of UIC defeated Chelsea Bailey of Milwaukee, 6-2, 6-2.

Doubles action at the event starts Friday morning. Soule and Christina Colarossi will play a team from Wisconsin in the first round while Shannon and Kelly Fritz get a bye into the second round.

Also Friday, Kristin Kurer and Brittany Skemp open doubles play at the ITA Second Chance Regional in Rockford, Ill.
