Kurer Wraps Up Weekend With Tough Loss In Third-Place Match
Oct. 21, 2012
ROCKFORD, Ill. - Kristin Kurer of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee wrapped up play in the ITA Second Chance Regional with a tiebreaker singles loss in the third-place match.
Kurer fell, 6-2, 3-6, (9) to Haley Dekkinga of Northern Illinois.
The match wrapped up a solid weekend by the Panthers at two ITA events. At the main ITA Regional in Champaign, Ill., Maddy Soule won three singles matches to reach the main draw while Soule and Christina Colarossi advanced to the round of 16 in the doubles draw. Meanwhile, Brittany Skemp and Kurer captured fifth place in their doubles flight in the second chance event.
UWM now turns its attention toward the spring season, which begins in January. Last season, Milwaukee claimed a best-ever third-place finish in the Horizon League and returns every key performer from that squad.
