MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team opens its 2013 spring home schedule this weekend when the Panthers host DePaul Friday.

UWM (1-1) will also play at Marquette Sunday in facing two stiff tests against Big East foes.

DePaul comes to Milwaukee with a 0-2 mark this spring but the Blue Demons are ranked in the top 70 nationally. Their two losses have come to foes also ranked in the top 70, with the Demons having lost to VCU and Auburn. DePaul has a young squad, boasting five freshmen and four sophomores on their roster.

Marquette will host two other Horizon League teams this weekend, with UIC squaring off against the Golden Eagles Friday while Green Bay plays MU Sunday afternoon. Marquette is 1-2 this spring, with losses to Minnesota and Indiana. The Golden Eagles also have a young team, with four freshmen and three sophomores on the roster.

"I am very excited to be hosting a nationally-ranked opponent Friday and then to have the opportunity to play our crosstown rival," Milwaukee head coach Sean McInerney said. "Both programs have very talented and deep rosters and it will be a great opportunity for us to see how we compete against great teams. The matches will help tell us what we need to improve upon as we move forward in the early part of the season."

Reigning Horizon League Player of the Week Maddy Soule continues to lead the Panthers. She won four matches in outings against IUPUI and Ball State this past weekend, becoming UWM's all-time leader in singles wins (59) in the process. Now she can become the school's all-time leader in doubles wins, as her 54 victories entering the weekend have her tied for the top spot in school history.

Soule is far from the only player standing out for the Panthers this season. Christina Colarossi has teamed with Soule for a stellar 14-2 mark in doubles play this year and the sophomore is now 38-14 in doubles action in her career. Plus, Kristin Kurer leads the Panthers in singles wins this season, tallying 11 this year and 52 overall.

Friday's match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at the Elite Sports Club - North Shore, which is located just off of Silver Spring in Glendale (5750 N Glen Park Rd.).

Sunday's match is set to start at 10 a.m. at Marquette's Helfaer Tennis Center.
