The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team will face Detroit in the first round of the Horizon League Championships this weekend in Indianapolis.
The third-seeded Panthers (13-8, 6-2 Horizon) and sixth-seeded Titans (6-12, 3-5) will play at 1 p.m. EDT/12 p.m. CDT Friday at North Central High School.
Milwaukee's third-place finish marks its best-ever in the regular season, while the Panthers also set a school record with their six league victories.
UIC is the top seed for the event, which runs through Sunday. The Flames (16-3, 8-0) have won 141 Horizon League matches, the top streak in NCAA tennis. UIC is also seeking its 16th consecutive league title and receives a bye into Saturday's semifinals.
Cleveland State (15-8, 7-1) is the second seed in the event and also gets a bye into the semis. Butler (8-14, 5-3) is the fourth seed and plays fifth-seeded Wright State (10-12, 4-4 Horizon) in Friday's other first round match.
Saturday's semifinals are at 2:30 p.m. EDT/1:30 p.m. CDT and Sunday's final is at 9 a.m. EDT/8 a.m. CDT.
