UWM Finishes First Day At Central Collegiate Championships

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Junior Nate Weiland and both the men's and women's distance medley relays took second place on the first day of the Central Collegiate Championships to lead both University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee track and field teams Friday in Champaign, Ill. The Panther women sit fourth with 13 points after five events, while the men are currently fourth with 17 points after four events.

In the distance medley, senior Teresa Braunreiter and juniors Tenia Fisher, Katie Anderson and Griffin McNulty teamed for their second-place time of 12:19.88. For the men, senior Nick Bruskewtiz, juniors Josh Nygren, Justin Gorman and sophomore Jeremy Majors combined on another second-place finish. The quartet finished in 10:11.55.

Weiland completed the 5000m with a time of 15:11.32 for Milwaukee while freshman Angie Huebner was the top finisher in the event on the women's side. Huebner placed fourth with a time of 18:28.70 ahead of sophomore Kourtney Nault, who crossed the line in 19:21.46.

Action at the Central Collegiate Championships concludes Saturday (Jan. 22) in Champaign, Ill.
