AMES, Iowa (Feb. 14, 2009) - Junior Reigna Pierce took 12th in the triple jump and junior Erin Havener tied for 18th in the pole vault to lead the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's track and field team on the final day of the Iowa State Cyclone Classic Saturday.

Pierce leapt 37-9 1/2 in the triple jump, while Havener posted a final height of 11-7 3/4 in the pole vault.

Milwaukee also got top-25 finishes from sophomore Tanaiya Fisher, junior Kelsey Conrad and freshman Shelby Schaal. Fisher ran a time of 5:16.27 in taking 21st in the mile run. Conrad placed 24th in the 400m with a time of 400m and Schaal was 24th in the 800m with a time of 59.50.

Junior Abbie Zaspel also had a strong showing in the 5000m, running a time of 17:48.85. Her time is eighth in school history, while putting her 29th in the event Saturday.

The indoor season is nearing the end for Milwaukee, which returns to action at its only home meet of the season, the UWM Panther Tune-Up, Feb. 20. That is the last regular season meet before the Panthers head to the Horizon League Championships Feb. 28-March 1 in Indianapolis, Ind.
