Cozine Leads Panthers In Outdoor Opener
CARBONDALE, Ill. (March 25, 2006) - Junior Taryn Cozine led the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's track and field team in its first event of the outdoor season with a second-place finish in the 400m hurdles at the Southern Illinois Invitational this weekend in Carbondale. UWM tallied 10.5 points on the weekend with a limited roster and placed 10th. Cozine ran a personal-best time in the 400m hurdles, crossing the line in 1:03.73. That time also ranks eighth in school history. Senior Andrea Ziebell also scored a top-10 finish, taking ninth in 1:07.09. Senior Stephanie Ray and sophomore Erin Magargee also scored for Milwaukee, tying for seventh in the pole vault and taking eighth in the 5000m events, respectively. Ray cleared 10-6, with freshman Jes Weyandt also among the top-10 in 10th (10-0). Magargee, meanwhile, finished in 18:13.31. The Panthers had two more top-10 finishers in sophomore Angie Huebner and freshman Beth Zimmerman. Huebner ran a time of 4:49.15 for 10th in the 1500m and Zimmerman leapt 17-8 in the long jump to tie for 10th. Milwaukee returns to action at the Stanford Invitational, March 31-April 1, in Palo Alto, Calif.
