Zimmerman, Relays Shine At Sea Ray Relays
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (April 10, 2010) - Senior Beth Zimmerman had another strong event and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's track and field team posted several strong relays to wrap up their competition this weekend on the final day of the Sea Ray Relays Saturday. After breaking her own school record in the triple jump Friday, Zimmerman took fifth in the long jump with a leap of 19-4 3/4. That distance was a personal best and moved her up to third in school history. The 4x400m ran the third-best time in school history with other strong relay times posted across the board. In the 4x400m, senior Kelsey Conrad, junior Angie Kaufmann, sophomore Calanetta Burrows and freshman Flo Mafany combined on a time of 3:49.28 and took 13th place. In the 4x100m relay, Conrad and Burrows were joined by sophomore Katie Duchow and freshman Chia Okonkwo on taking 11th. Their time was a solid 47.00. Rounding out the final-day performances was senior Jamie Woods in the shot put, as well as the 4x800m and distance medley relays. Woods threw 42-2 3/4 for 22nd in her event. In the 4x800m, Junior Tanaiya Fisher and sophomores Shannon Brown, Erika Hanson and Kristi Schuette took eighth with a time of 9:41.18. The quartet also ran the DMR, taking 10th with a time of 12:25.76. Milwaukee returns to action at the Rankin Invitational April 17 in West Lafayette, Ind., while some Panthers will make the trip to Walnut, Calif., April 15-17, for the Mt. SAC Relays.
