Terre Haute, Ind. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's track & field team recorded four second-place finishes in the final day of events at the Pacesetter Quadrangular hosted by Indiana State University at Marks Field Saturday.

UWM finished in third place with 107 points. Host ISU took first with 229.5 points, while Southern Illinois was second with 204.5 and conference rival Butler came in fourth at 76.

Lauren Grant posted a season-best time in the 400m, crossing the line in 56.90 seconds. That now stands sixth all-time in UWM history.

Senior Calanetta Burrows improved on her national-ranking time in the 400m hurdles and just missed her personal best with a run of 1:01.24 in the 400m hurdles to take second. Freshman Chelsea Maxey came in fifth at 1:07.39.

Senior Laura Hamel climbed to second all-time in UWM history with a leap of 5-7 (1.70m) in high jump, just one inch shy of the school record. Freshman Ashley Brusveen (1.60m) took sixth, senior Shelby Schaal (1.60m) was seventh and senior Ashlee Mongoven (1.50m) came in 10th.

Senior Courtney Fisher also took second for the Panthers, clearing 11-4 1/4 (3.46m). Junior Sarah Finer took fifth at 10-10 1/4 (3.31m) and junior Chantel McConville cleared the same mark for a season-best result to take seventh.

Junior Samia Taylor had a leap of 39-5 3/4 (12.03m) in triple jump to take third overall. Classmate Erika Suchla came in just behind in fifth at 37-7 3/4 (11.47m).

 

 

Chiamaka Okonkwo crossed the line third in the 100m hurdles with a season-best time of 14.59. Schaal took fifth in 15.08 and freshman Erin McCauley ran a season-best time of 16.70 for 13th.

McCauley, Okonkwo, Grant and Maxey combined to take third in the 4x100m relay with a time of 48.52.

In middle distance events, freshman Annette Lemanski finished the 1500m with a season-best time of 5:09.60 to take 10th. Seniors Erika Hanson (2:15.82) and Kristi Schuette (2:20.32) came in sixth and seventh in the 800m.

Brittany Alsum just missed improving on her season-best distance in discus with a toss of 120-10 (36.83m), while Moriah Myles (33.97m) was 12th and Nancy Harmon (33.59m) took 13th.

The Panthers return to action next week when they head to Lawrence, Kan. for the Kansas Relays Thursday through Saturday (April 19-21).
