Lawrence, Kan. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's and women's track & field teams both continued to post impressive numbers in the third day of action at the 85th Kansas Relays hosted by Kansas University Friday.

The Panthers had their best finishes of the day in the DMR. On the men's side, Joseph Morgan, Cory Yttre, Jake Spaciel and Jake Reilly combined to cross the line in 10:18.12 for second overall. The women's team of Kristi Schuette, Lauren Grant, Erika Hanson and Sammy Woller combined to take third in 12:22.73. Morgan and Reilly later teamed up with sophomore Sam Leschisin and junior Bobby Glotfelty to take fifth in the 4x1 mile with a time of 18:01.76.

Milwaukee had a solid day in triple jump. Junior Samia Taylor finished fourth overall on the women's side with a leap of 40-7 (12.37m). Junior Erika Suchla also jumped well, reaching 37-4 1/2 (11.39m) for 11th. On the men's side, Jake Whitewater finished ninth with a mark of 47-1 3/4 (14.37m) with freshman Aaron Dillon right behind in 10th at 47-0 3/4 (14.34m).

Junior Garrett Vetesnik was just shy of his season-best in pole vault and finished 10th overall, clearing 16-0 3/4 (4.90m). One week after nearly breaking the school record in high jump, senior Laura Hamel had another strong showing, leaping 5-3 (1.60m) for 15th.



In preliminary action, junior Durell Busby qualified by taking second in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.32. Sophomore Dexter Schleis finished 10th in the 400m hurdles in 53.27 with classmate Alex Delveaux coming in just behind in 54.13 for 13th.

Senior Calanetta Burrows finished in the top eight to earn a spot in Saturday's finals with a qualifying run of 1:02.90 in the 400m hurdles. In 100m hurdles action, junior Chiamaka Okonkwo posted a season-best time of 14.43 to take 11th.

In the 4x100m relay, Okonkwo, Grant, Burrows and freshman Chelsea Maxey took 10th in 48.15, while the men's team of Busby, Matt Ferry, Washington Farrington and Whitewater came in at 42.40 for 15th.

In the day's final action, Burrows, Maxey, Hanson and Grant combined to qualify for in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:54.24. The men's team also qualified for Saturday's final as Schleis, freshman Jordan Schmidt, Yttre and Spaciel finished in 3:17.91, just shy of the season-best time for the team.
